Romantic Escapes to Celebrate Your Anniversary

Romantic Escapes to Celebrate Your Anniversary

Celebrate Your Anniversary

An anniversary is something that deserves to be marked. Whether you’re celebrating the day you first met, the day you first dated, or the day you got married, going on a trip can help you to reflect on your relationship and experience something new together. Ideally, it should also provide an opportunity for romance, too.

Santorini, Greece

This magnificent island is found in the Cyclades, and it’s a hub for luxury retreats and spa resorts. You can expect fine dining and swimming pools in full view of the Aegean Sea, as well as unique historical locations like Akrotiri, a volcano-preserved city.

Venice, Italy

Italy is a popular destination for couples. Venice is a city that’s defined by the canals that divide it, and the gondolas that traverse them. A romantic tour of Italy should include a stop here – ideally during autumn or winter when crowds are much sparser. During your visit, there are a number of spectacular locations to visit, including the famous Piazza San Marco – which is best visited first thing in the morning, when everyone else is still in bed!

The Maldives

This little archipelago is packed with world-class hotels and luxury resorts, and thus it’s an excellent match for truly special anniversaries. You can enjoy the unspoilt clear blue ocean during the day – ideally, with the aid of a snorkel. If you’re looking for something a bit different, you might favour a guesthouse over the larger resorts.

Paris, France

The French capital has a deserved reputation as the global city of love. The big tourist attractions, like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, will be packed during summer. Avoid them in favour of the quieter side of Paris. Wander along the Seine, book a table at a rooftop bar, and enjoy a bottle of wine together. There’s also a wealth of local markets and street vendors to explore. Don’t be afraid to sample what the locals are eating!

Marrakech, Morocco

This Moroccan city has been shaped by a unique combination of historical factors. There’s nowhere else in the world that’s quite like it. You’ll get a real sense of adventure, and the sense that everything is possible, especially if you’re looking for retail therapy in the famous souks.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is an excellent choice for many couples, thanks to a combination of tropical weather and incredible culture, all wrapped in jungle. Balinese food is something to be savoured, and the nightlife is amazing. If you want to keep things luxurious, there’s an ever-expanding roster of opulent hotels to choose from – but for those who prefer an authentic glimpse of the countryside, a glamping trip to Ubud is probably a better fit.
